NICHE

2006

Museum of Contemporary Art

North Miami, FL.

Niche was created by the artist in his studio in downtown Miami, photographed in its original context, then delivered and placed in the museum setting where it was displayed according to:

A.) Having a visibly intrusive cut made directly into the museum wall.

B.) Placed in a solitary manner allowing the work to exist unoccupied. (30” off the ground)

C.) Remain visible from both a frontal and perpendicular angle demonstrating it as an intervening object in the museum context.

Upon completing the "Niche" and before delivering it to the museum, the artist photographed individuals from the surrounding vicinity within it. The following images are a record of the interaction that occurred in the artist studio in April of 2006.
